The NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Chase is officially underway!!!!

Posted by Ron Ripple in Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Nascar, Picks, Tony Stewart

Well it’s finally here… the start of the “Chase for the Sprint Cup.”  From here on out it’s anyone’s game, they all have a fresh start, and the only thing that seperates the 1st place guy from the 12 place guy is 80 points. Who’s going to go home with the Championship title and who’s going to be lost in history?

Well the favorites this year are quite obvious going into the chase… you’ve got Kyle Busch who has been called the new “NASCAR God” (Whiner - is what i call him) , you’ve got Jimmie Johnson who is looking to make it a 3-peat,  and you’ve got Carl Edwards who has been unstoppable late in the season.  If you were to ask me who I think is going to take the Championship home at the end of the season I’d have to say I’m going with one of the “Dark Horses.”

I have a gut feeling there’s going to be an upset this year.  Typically when I have this gut feeling it means I either ate too much Beano last night or I’m going to make a really important statement.  I’m not quite sure which one it is but I’m gonna have to call it right now…. “I Ron Ripple, think the driver who will take home the Sprint Cup Championship is…. (Drum roll please)… Greg Biffle.

Greg Biffle - Ron Ripple’s 2008 Sprint Cup Pick
Hopefully my predictions are right and we see
this the rest of the season!

I’m the kind of guy who votes for the under dog and one who hopes that David whoops the crap out of Goliath.  So I’m going on record here and now and saying I think Greg Biffle is going to run these last few races strong.  You don’t hear much about him this year, but he’s always there, he’s always in the top, and he’s always workin hard to finish strong.

Biffle’s starting the “Chase” 80 points behind the leader.  If he’s going to win the Championship this year he’s gonna have to start strong.  He hasn’t had a win all year but he’s been the second best or even third best at a number of races.  Going to New Hampshire he’s gonna have to put his “1st place panties” on because earlier this year he only finished 21st at the LENOX Industrial race hosted at the New Hampshire Speedway.

I know I’m picking a long shot but like I said earlier… I’ve got that gut feeling and I’m just praying it’s not the Beano!

I know I know I know…. I’m a big Tony Stewart fan, and to tell you the truth, I feel pretty guilty for not picking him to win this season, but the boy has changed.  Tony Stewart is not the same guy from last year, and I just feel he doesn’t have that drive that so many of these other drivers have.  He probably has a lot on his mind especially with the new Team he’s joining/owning next year.  I just haven’t seen the Tony Stewart I’ve known and loved.  (Loved in a straight way)

The Championship Chase is underway and I can’t wait to see what happens.  For all of you readers let me know who you think is going to win this season.  I’m going to host a giveaway starting next week and give away some Gas Cards so you all can fill up those tanks.

So make sure you check back.

Clint Bowyer is in the Chase!

Posted by Ron Ripple in Nascar, Nascar Racing, Rumor Mill

Clint BoyerYes Clint Bowyer is officially in the 12th position and back in the chase… but what I’m really talking about is Bowyer chasing down drivers in New Hampshire and handing out tickets.  What was Clint Bowyer doing chasing people and pulling them over?  Has he quit racing and become a police officer?

Nope… but he did help the New Hampshire State Police yesterday pull over law abiding citizens and handed out not citations, but tickets to attend the Sylvania 300 on September 14th.

Clint Bowyer did a ride along with New Hampshire State Police and handed out tickets for those drivers abiding the new “Move Over” law New Hampshire set in place just this year.  He pulled over a number of motorists that moved over and slowed down when they saw official emergency vehicles in the breakdown lane.

Clint Bowyer knows a little bit about slowing down when there’s an emergency… this past weekend he got caught up in a multi-car crash late in the race but ended up working his way back to the front and securing a top 10 finish.

I believe the New Hampshire State police would have issued him a citation for following too closely and not leaving enough “braking” room to prevent an accident… but luckily for him, nobody called the cops. haha

Clint’s got his work cut out for him this coming weekend in California.  In his career, he’s only had one top 5 finish at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana California, so it looks like he’s got a lot of work to do.  Bowyer hasn’t been a big threat at the big tracks but they’re looking to at least secure a solid position and set themselves up for a win at the Sylvania 300 where he’s the defending champion.

Bowyer looks like he’s making his way back into the points… do you think he has a chance or is he going to get beat out by Kahne, Newman, or Ragan?

Carl Edwards has Busch’s number!

Posted by Ron Ripple in Carl Edwards, Nascar Racing, Rumor Mill

Just when you thought Kyle Busch was going to dominate again… Carl Edwards takes the checkered flag.  I’ve said this before… nice guys don’t always finish last, especially when it comes to Carl Edwards.  He’s making this his 5th Sprint Cup win of the season and has backed up the reason of why he’s sitting pretty in second place overall.

Carl Edwards lifted his leg this weekend and “marked” his territory after winning both the Nationwide series race as well as the Sprint Cup race.  He becomes the second driver to ever win both races in one weekend at the Michigan track, Mark Martin did it in 1993.

Kyle Busch ran an incredible race yesterday afternoon and set himself up to win until they pitted on lap 180 out of 200.  Just when you think NASCAR is only about RACING on the track… nope… yesterday’s advantage went to Carl Edwards because his crew ”out raced” Kyle Busch’s crew and got Carl out on the track quicker.

After Carl and Kyle’s pit, they enter the track with Dale Earnhardt Jr and David Ragan running 1-2.  Once Carl Edwards passed them, he continued to stay in front and held Kyle Busch off till the end.

Kyle Busch said in his post race interview that he had nothing for Carl Edwars.  He said “Carl came off the corners a lot quicker and he did his best to stay close to him.  Overall we just didn’t have the car this weekend, Carl Edwards ran a great race.”

It was another great win for Carl Edwards and it allowed him to execute his famous backflip he’s been performing all year.  There’s a rumor going around the pits that Carl Edwards has been training with the U.S. Olympic team of Paul and Morgan Hamm, which has allowed him to perfect his backflip.  Also there are rumors going around that if Carl Edwards wins the Championship this year, he will attempt a double back hand spring with a flip into a twist double double twist flip and land on his hands. (I hope he wins because I can’t wait to see what the hell this is.)

All I know is yesterday was a great race and I was glad to see Carl Edwards out there winning.  Whatever flips he attempts it’s better than what I can do.  The only hand stands you’ll be seeing me do is one off a keg… we call it the keg stand.

———————————————————–

Great racing to all… there were a lot of disappointments this weekend for the top 12 racers.  Kasey Khane had engine failure which caused him to finish in 4oth place, dropped him down to 11th overall in the points standings.  Hamlin who finished in 39th dropped down to 12th position in the points standings… now on the bubble.

Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson had a rough weekend as well.  Both were involved in a three car fender bender that punctured Johnson’s tire giving him a 17th place finish.  Jeff Gordon didn’t feel the fender bender drama till later in the race when his tire then punctured making him hit the wall.  He finished 42nd which dropped him in the overall points from 6th place down to 9th place.

There was a lot of movement in the overall standings…

Marianna Sherman…whoaaaa boy! Marianna is a beautiful girl I met one day drinking a few beers at Hooters.  She was our waitress for the night and interestingly enough she told me I had to be one of the most “interesting looking rednecks” she’s ever seen.  Of course I take that as a compliment because girls tell me that all the time… so I asked her out on a date, and as of right now I’m still waiting.  Either she gave me the wrong number or she just needs to turn her phone back on… I’m still confused.  But anyway… here’s a little bit about her and why she loves NASCAR so much!

Kyle Busch was in a slump?

Posted by Ron Ripple in Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Nascar, Tony Stewart, Uncategorized

Just when you think Kyle Busch is in a so called “Slump,” the kid comes out and dominates another road course.  Watkins Glen was an incredible race and one you did not want to miss.

So we all know Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon were saying they saw weakness in the no. 18 car over the past couple races, well let me just say… THEY WERE WRONG.  Just because Kyle Busch didn’t dominate the field in the last couple races doesn’t mean the driver is in a slump.   He came out this weekend and showed the field exactly what they didn’t want to see… “the back of Kyle Busch’s no. 18 car!”

Watkins Glen was a pretty tame race overall until lap 86 when there was a huge pile up sending Bobby Labonte to the hosipital and a 45 minute race delay.  Bobby Labonte was complaining of sore ribs and was later released.

The wreck started when contact was made by Michael McDowell which sent David Gilliland’s Ford spinning out of control into the guardrail. Sam Hornish Jr. slid sideways into the barrier of sand barrels dividing the racetrack from pit road… from there it was a huge pile up including Michael Waltrip, Dave Blaney, Joe Nemechek, Max Papis and Reed Sorenson.

All were released from the infield medical center but it delayed the race 45 minutes.  The race then re-started on lap 86 with Kyle Busch racing to the finish and getting the win on the 90th and final lap.  About 3 seconds behind Kyle Busch was his team mate Tony Stewart who has a solid finish but still continues his 36 race winless streak.

You all know Tony Stewart is one of my favorite drivers of all time… even though he hasn’t won a race in 36 races.  I do have to admit though… he seems to be losing his attitude and his “I’ll say what’s on my mind” reputation.  I think he’s setting himself up to be a leader for his new team Stewart Haas Racing.

It seems as though Stewart is not only losing his attitude but it’s almost as though he’s giving it to Kyle Busch.  Kyle Busch comes off the track and says “Tony was faster than me only at the “bus stop” chicane, but nowhere else on the track.”  and Tony Stewart comes off the track saying “I’m real happy with this second place finish, I didn’t have anything for my team mate Kyle Busch, he ran a great race.”

I dont’ know who’s telling my boy Tony Stewart to be nice and respectful, but whoever it is needs to let him be who he is.  Overall it was a good race to watch…. Kyle Busch obviously made the chase… Tony Stewart also bettered himself in the points… so overall I’m a happy fan.

By the way… Craig… i’m sure you’re happy with Montoya’s finish this weekend.  He finally finished better than 41st place. haha!!!

Who’s your team and who are you rooting for to make the chase?

Matt Kenseth’s race for the chase!

Posted by Ron Ripple in Nascar, Picks, Tony Stewart

Matt Kenseth Ron RippleWe’re getting down to the wire in the Chase and it seems as though there are some “great” drivers who have not yet secured their spot.  You’ve got Kevin Harvick, Clint Boyer, Matt Kenseth, and David Ragen all within 54 points of each other.  Kevin Harvick is sitting in the 11th position but still needs to race well these last races in order to secure his spot.  It’s anyone’s game…

One driver I was 100% sure was going to secure himself a spot was Matt Kenseth.  In the beginning of the season he didn’t do so well… if you asked me after 10 races if he was going to make it in the chase I would have said “Fat Chance.”  In his first 10 races he averaged about 23.5th position which in my opinion is just straight up NASTY!  Now these past 10 races he’s done a complete 180 and has done nothing but impress me.   The second half of this season he’s turned that average finish of 23.5th into 10.1.

Matt Kenseth looked like he was securing his position in the chase but these last two races (Brickyard and Pocono) looked worse than his first 10 races.  He went from being in 8th position overall in points to 13th position.  If he plans on racing for the money, he better figure out what he’s going to do.

It seems to me as though Matt Kenseth is either Hot or Cold and nothing in between.  He either has a top 5 car or he has a car that won’t get any camera time when it comes to race day.

These last 5 races are going to be tough for Mr. Kenseth.  I’ve got a strategy I think he needs to hear in order to make it into the chase, so if he wants to e-mail me or call me to find out what it will take, then please do.

(I’ll give you all a hit…. My strategy consists of him finishing top 10 within the next 5 races and pray that Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, Clint Boyer, and Kevin Harvick have a horrible day.)  If he’s not close with God… maybe now’s the time.

Haha… (sorry gotta cut this article short… I’ve got a keg party I need to make an appearance at)

My 7 Steps to converting Jeff Gordon into a Beer drinker!

Posted by Ron Ripple in Entertaining, Jeff Gordon, ME!, Nascar

Jeff Gordon with his wine!As much as I call Jeff Gordon out for being a wine drinker… I figured I could help change my own feelings about him by converting him into a beer drinker.

Jeff Gordon is an incredible racer and is one of the best NASCAR driver’s that ever lived.  He’s married to an absolutely gorgeous wife, Ingrid Vandebosch, and has an absolutely beautiful little daughter.  The guy is defintiely living the life but for some odd reason I just can’t get over the fact that the guy is a wine drinker and won’t convert himself over to beer.

If you walk into a NASCAR event and walk up to the concession stands you’re not going to find any wine… it’s strictly beer.  Going into the in-field where the fans are, you see nothing but keg stands and beer funnels.  I can guarantee you, not one person will be doing a wine stand or wine funnel.  It’s just not the way us NASCAR fans live.

This 7 step program is written to Jeff Gordon.

I’ve created “Ron Ripple’s 7 step program of converting YOU (Jeff Gordon)… into a beer drinker.”  When I’m done with you Jeff, you’re not only going to be drinking beer, but you’ll also be drinking beer with cheese.  haha!

 Ok here we go….

Step 1: Buy a few cases of different beer!

The world is filled with a ton of different brands of beer.  You’ve got Budwieser, Miller, Natural Light, Millwaukee’s Best, and of course you’ve got the snobs who drink Corona Light, Amstel, and the list goes on.  The point of buying multiple cases of beer is everyone has their own flavor and you don’t want to get the wrong impression of beer just because you don’t like one! It’s not true that you try one you’ve tried em all.

Step 2: Find the Beer you dislike the least and buy a keg of it!

The point of buying a keg is that we’re going to be taste testing and I’ll be teaching you the different techniques that will help you “Acquire” the taste of beer. (I reckon I was born with the acquired taste, it’s unfortunate you weren’t)

Step 3: Study the Keg… become one with the keg!

Jeff… this is a very important part about “learning to love beer.”  You first have to sit with the keg and understand its fundamentals and functionality of it. You must be one with the beer… and when I say this I really mean SIT with the beer.  Enjoy it’s company… start a relationship with the beer, talk to it, go deep Jeff.  You want to form the type of relationship where you miss it even making a trip to the little boys room.

Jeff Gordon becoming one with the Keg
Jeff Taking Step 3 very seriously!

Step 4: Do your first Keg Stand!

Grab your wife and kids and have them hold your feet above the keg while you do a hand stand.  Place the spout in your mouth and count in “mississippi seconds” until your little frame can’t take any more… the longer the better. I currently hold the NASCAR Fan record for most time.. Back in 99 I was able to take a keg stand while Jeff and the rest of the racers ran 9 laps during the Daytona 500.  Nobody has beat the record to this day!

This step is important because by now you already have a buzz and the taste is starting to get better.  Jeff, I know this is a buzz you’re not used too, but just remember you won’t have the so called “wine headache” in the morning.

Step 5: Funnel a beer!

This sounds very easy and it actually is.  Mr. Gordon… I’ve mailed you your first beer funnel so now is the time to use it.  No… it wasn’t meant to siphon gas… it’s meant to get you to the next level!  I know you’re not used to drinking quickly especially when you’re sipping on wine, but this is a crowd pleaser and helps you get accepted by peers. (I’ll accept you)

Side note: Driving a NASCAR isn’t the only way to get people out of their seats, the more beer you funnel… the more fans you’ll have and the louder the chant.  Another positive spin  is the effect it has on your vision… women look more attractive. Obviously you don’t have to worry about that considering you’re married to a super model, but it sure as hell helps me out.

Jeff Gordon becoming one with the Beer

Jeff finally acquiring the taste!

Step 6: Now that you’ve somewhat acquired the taste… invite friends over for a game of beer pong!

Jeff… you probably don’t know what beer pong is so let me explain it to you.  Beer pong is a game where “skilled beer drinkers” compete with each other by setting up about 15 cups filled half full of beer half way on each side of a ping pong table.  You then pick a partner and hope for the best… try to pick a partner who is the least drunk because the object of the game is to  aim for the cups and sink as many ping pong balls as you can.

You’re probably a little overwhelmed right now because you’re pretty drunk but aren’t you having more fun with your friends than usual? Sit back and take this in… it’s a new lifestyle.

Step 7: Continue drinking till you pass out… you’ll sleep a lot better!

Mr Gordon, this is the last and final step that can not be forgotten.  It’s quite simple I reckon, just continue drinking until you pass out.  This step takes a long time for someone like me who has been drinking beer all my life… but for you, I can guarantee you’ll probably pass out around 9:00 PM if you started at 7:00 pm.

You’ll be amazed with the quality sleep and the amount of sleep you get when passing out after drinking. No interruptions, the dog barking won’t faze you, the wife nagging will be automatically ignored… it’s just the best sleep you’ll ever get. Nighty Night Jeff.

Conclusion

Jeff Gordon going from Girly to Manly

Jeff I hope you take my 7 steps seriously and give it a try. If you need a few drinking partners feel free to email me. I really think you’re a great racer and I want to see you out there with the boys drinking beer instead of wine. Leave the wine to who it’s made for… the women!  I’ve heard it from a number of the different drivers the reason why they don’t invite you out for a beer… it’s simply because they think the wine drinking is too girly.

Image is everything.

E-mail me back when you get a chance… I want to know your thoughts.

Stewart-Haas creating a dream team?

Posted by Ron Ripple in Nascar, Rumor Mill, Tony Stewart

Since Tony Stewart has officially signed up as Driver and Team Owner with Haas CNC, the new team is now looking for other drivers.   I mentioned before I heard rumors Ryan Newman was going to be realeased from Penske and was going to join his good friend Stewart on the new team.  Well it looks as if these rumors are becoming a reality.

Ryan Newman - Stewart Haas RacingWe all know Ryan Newman has been released from the Penske team earlier last week, but he still has yet to say who he plans to race for next year.  In my opinion we all KNOW he’s going to be racing with Stewart-Haas Racing, but the only question is when he is going to make the announcement?

I personally think he’s going to make the announcement later on in the year… maybe Britsol or Dover.   I think he wants to stay focused on Penske and trying to finish the year by getting into the chase.  He currently sits in 16th place and has a lot of points to make up if he thinks he’s going to make it into the top 12.

Ryan Newman is a great racer and has a lot of potential to be a superstar… he just needs to focus on finishing this year and doing the best he can.  A lot of drivers this year are worried about what’s going to happen next year and who’s going to be racing where, I just think they need to stay focused on this year and making sure their sponsors are happy.

Racers need sponsors in order to race, so they need to make sure their sponsors are happy so they can race another race.

Will the new Stewart-Haas Racing have a third car?

The rumor mill never stops churning… there are more rumors going around in the pits there may be another driver who will be racing for the new Stewart-Haas team.  Who is this new driver?  Are they going to make it a three car team?  Is Tony Stewart the new Joe Gibbs?

The rumors aren’t yet confirmed but it seems as though there are serious talks Martin Truex Jr will be leaving DEI to join the Stewart Haas Team.

Martin Truex Jr - Stewart Haas?

I think it would be great if Martin Truex Jr joined my boy Tony Stewart in his new venture.  We all know DEI is having a tough time trying to survive in today’s economy and the word on the street is Teresa is looking for investors to help back the team.  Well it looks like they’re starting to lose their drivers now and Martin Truex Jr is going to be making a decision on where he wants to race.

When DEI got busted for their hood not being legal, Martin Truex Jr threw a fit and was furious with the results.  It put a $100,000 damper on the teams wallet as well as hurt Truex in the points.  Martin Truex Jr is focused on winning and it seems as though every team wants him.

Martin Truex Jr has a tough decision to make especially if he decides to go with Tony Stewart.  I think Stewart Haas is eventually going to be a great team but I think it’s going to take a little time for them to gel.  It’s basically going to be a brand new team because Stewart plans on going in there and cutting jobs and piecing together crews.

I’m excited to see what happens with the team and I can only imagine it’s going to be first class.  Stewart is setting himself up to be a legend and it’s always good to start now before it gets to late.  He’s on top of the world and with his new venture it will only better his image and life in the NASCAR world.

Who do you think would be a dream team of drivers?  If you had the deepest pockets in the world and were to design your own dream team of racers who would you pick?

I would pick Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, and Kevin Harvick.  I think these guys would be an incredible dream team.

Ron Ripple gets recognized by Forbes Magazine?

Posted by Ron Ripple in Dale Earnhardt Jr, Entertaining, Kyle Busch, ME!, Nascar, Who am I?

Ron Ripple himself (that’s me) is being recognized by Forbes Magazine this month in their Celebrity Issue.  Forbes Magazine is one of the top magazines in the world known to feature the richest and most famous people ever.  Ok… so they’re obviously not recognizing me for being one of the richest people in the world… but I still made FORBES for being NASCAR’s Biggest Fan.

Forbes Magazine contacted me about 2 1/2 months ago saying and I quote “I’d like to tell you how badass you are… and I would also like to feature you in Forbes Magazine, as NASCAR’s #1 Fan.”

At first I thought this is really a sick joke that one of my beer drinking friends were playing on me.  I really wasn’t excited or anything but then I noticed the e-mail address came from Forbes and there was also a phone number.  So I picked up the phone and called this young lady who proceeded to tell me how excited she was to be talking to NASCAR’s Biggest fan.  Boy let me tell you what… I think she could tell that I was blushing from the other side of the phone.

Forbes Magazine was trying to get in touch with me… this beer drinking NASCAR fan who has no fortune or celebrity status except for this website on the so called World Wide Web.  At first I was curious as to how they got a hold of me.  Had they talked to my boys down at the track such as Tony Stewart or Dale Earnhardt Jr?  Did they call Kyle Busch and ask him who annoys him the most or who is a fly he can’t get rid of when he’s down in the pits?  Of course I knew they would say me, but when she finally admitted how she found me I was shocked…  she simply said Google.

After our brief conversation we set up dates on when she was going to interview me and shoot the photos for the magazine.  When the interview date came she called me up and I gave her an incredible interview filled with exciting quotes and tons of information.  At least I think I did… I guess we’ll find out on the 22nd!

One of the things Forbes requested from me was a place to shoot when they sent their photographers down.  I didn’t even hesitate when they asked me this so I immediately called my boy Craig Waters down in Bradenton.  Craig is a great friend of mine and is known for his incredibly decorated garage.  The guy has created a NASCAR heaven that’s jam packed with 3 flat screen TVs, 100’s of posters, 20+ DieCast cars, old race tires, a pool table, work bench, tool chest, couch, and the list could go on.   Click on the photos below to check it out!

About a month later Forbes sent down photographers to take pictures of me… well in reality they couldn’t take pictures of me, so they took pictures of my creators Blake and Brock Gratton.  I won’t get into who Blake and Brock Gratton are but let’s just say they’re kind of a big deal around here.  Ron Ripple wouldn’t be here without them.

But the rest is history and the magazine comes out on July 22nd which is right around the corner.  I’ve put up a count down on the right side of the page so make sure you Ron Ripplers pick up a copy.  I’m so excited and honored to be featured in the magazine and I couldn’t have done this without my readers.

Thank you all and make sure you continue to read.

Road racing here we goooooo!!!!

Posted by Ron Ripple in Kyle Busch, Nascar, Picks, Tony Stewart

This weekend we’re heading down to Sonoma for an incredible road course with turn after turn after turn and I cannot wait.  This is going to be an awesome race to watch, and as much as I love to see these guys turn left, it’s going to be incredibly fascinating to see them turn right.  I mean… do these cars even turn right?  We’ll just have to wait and see.

Infineon Sonoma Racing

Wow… Did they seriously just take a right turn?

Sonoma is a track where road course racers are supposed to stand out and show the world what they’re all about.  Many times a team owner hires a road racer to come out here and show the world what they’ve got and in the end make a fool of themselves by getting owned by the true NASCAR racers themselves.  The statistics show (Nascar.com) only 1.5% of hired guns actually finish top 5 at the end of the day and usually get shown up by the true NASCAR (left turn only) racers.

I love watching road courses and i’m glad NASCAR has a few on the schedule.  This course has a lot of history behind it and a lot of drivers really enjoy it.  Jeff Gordon is one of the guys to beat this weekend with having won 5 out of the last 10 starts here.  He hasn’t been dominating much this year but he’s been in the shadows and this could be the race that lights the fire underneath his panties.

Another racer who has done well here is Juan Montoya.  This is his kind of course and he’ll be going out there trying to defend his title.  Juan won this race last year by basically driving by ever single car in the field.  He started in the 32nd position last year and is the first driver to win the race having started further back than 13th position.  I’m not a big Montoya fan but I think he’s going to be a driver to watch out for.  He obviously knows this course and knows how to pass… (Craig you better call your boy and tell him to step up his game because he’s going to make me look bad if he doesn’t)

Of course there is going to be a lot of hype behind other racers such as Tony Stewart, Boris Said, Terry Labonte, and many more due to the fact that they are great road racers.  But I think the guys that will need to shine and make a solid finish are those focused on making the top 12 for the chase at the end of the year…  Matt Kenseth, Ryan Newman, Brian Vickers, Clint Boyer, Martin Truex Jr.

Of course an article on Ron Ripple wouldn’t be an article without mentioning Kyle Busch.  For once I have to say Kyle Busch is making a great decision and has decided not to race the Nationwide Series race this weekend in Milwaukee.  Sonoma is a tough course and takes a toll on these racers especially if they’re not in their prime come race day.  There are a couple racers who have decided to race both and those are David Reutimann, Clint Boyer, and Carl Edwards.  All are great racers and have a chance at Sonoma but I think racing both races is going to be a mistake.

Who do you think will take home the trophy this weekend?  Is it me or are you excited about the road course as well?  Boy do I love NASCAR….
