Tony Stewart considering offers?

Tony Signing his life away... only kidding!Tony Stewart who you all know is one of my favorite drivers, is the topic of discussion throughout the NASCAR community.  The rumor on the street is that he’s been getting multiple offers from a number of different race teams even though his contract doesn’t come up with Joe Gibbs Racing until the end of the 2009 season.  Tony Stewart said that he is going to be completely honest and up front with Joe Gibbs and has already admitted to keeping his ears open.  The biggest story that has been going around the pits is he’s decided already to sign with Haas CNC racing which is a second class racing team.

J.D. Gibbs says they aren’t worried about the possible offers and has denied the claims.  They think Tony Stewart will make the right decision and stay with a team he will win with, and they’re confident they are THAT team.  One thing they have mentioned is if Tony decides he doesn’t plan on staying with the Gibbs team, he better at least fulfill his contract and stay till the end of the 2009 year.

Tony Stewart on the other hand has other interests… his goal is to not only be a driver but also a team owner.  He wants to guarantee a life long career in the racing world, and the next peice to the puzzle is to own a team.  So rumors on the street are he’s already signed with Haas CRC racing, but not only as a driver but also part owner in the team.

To me it sounds like Tony Stewart has made his decision… I think he’s going to fulfill his contract because he’s a stand up guy and Joe Gibbs has been an incredible team owner for him.  I personally think he should keep racing for Joe Gibbs… but I understand why he wants to secure his life long career in the NASCAR world.  If it aint broke than don’t fix it… he will be racing for a second class team.  And second class teams are second class teams with second class equipment.  He’s not going to find a more professional, more prepared team than Joe Gibbs and right now Joe Gibbs is THE TEAM to beat.

Another reason why I think Tony made the swith is because I think he’s a Chevy guy.   Tony switched to the Toyota this year when the Gibbs team decided it was going to be the car they all ran this year.  His Nationwide Series team is currently still running the Chevy and I think he’s always been a Chevy guy and feels comfortable in a Chevy.  Tony Stewart and Toyota go together like beer and popsicles.  They just dont!

It’s going to be a sad day when he makes the switch… but who knows… maybe he’ll turn a second class team into a first class team.  I hope this isn’t the last we see of Tony and I hope he doesn’t become a has been who lost his aggressive, opinionated, drama filled always a contender to be reckoned with attitude.  10 years and racing for the same owner with over 34 wins is a great accomplishment, let’s just hope he keeps us all on the edge of our seats.

What do you think… is he going to continue racing for Joe Gibbs?  Is he going to fulfill his contract or will he pull out early?

I will follow Tony wherever he goes, and I know he will be successful no matter what decision he makes. I do hope that he does honor his contract with Gibbs, and I believe he will. There is nothing wrong with planning your future ahead of time, and with still next season left on his contract it gives him plenty of time to weigh all his options. I could definitely see him as an owner, not only is he an incredible driver in whatever he chooses to drive, but is also proving to be a great business man.
I hope his future includes a good woman and a family too, after seeing how he was with the little girl from the Make a Wish Foundation after his Nationwide win on Saturday I think he should definitely be a family man too….and well since I’m already taken and have kids he’ll have to find someone else…lmfao…

I will say that I respect Tony as a racer but don’t exactly think he makes the greatest SOUND decisions. I find it a little ridiculous that he has two more seasons of racing left and the man is already airing out his plans and making, as Ron puts it “NASCAR DRAMA” when he needs to be focusing on winning a championship/.

Get your big head out of the clouds and somehow squeeze it into the race car and go racing.

I think Tony is going to do whats best for Tony. And if that means starting his own team, then thats what he will do. I dont necessarily think that hes airing out his plans but there are too many people that know whats going on. Word of mouth is a bitch. You tell one person what your thinking about, you might as well tell the whole world.

I agree with you Ron! That’s why your the Number one Fan of NASCAR! Tony is a Chevy man and I think he did not agree with Gibbs on the move to Toyota. I am VERY proud of Joe Gibbs Racing and how fanastic their cars are doing with the Toyota package! At the beginning when Waltrip Racing start running the cars he made a mockery out of Toyota in the NASCAR world. I am glad to see that it took a few Great racers (Denny, Kyle and Stewart) to turn Toyota around in Cup and put them against Chevy’s. Toyota’s were aleady great in Craftmans Truck. As far as Stewart I think Tony always has something to say and someone to blame (I really like him for it) and if he was to start a team and run with Chevy (I heard Childress engines) he will have to put his foot in his mouth a lot more since he’ll be more likly to loss sponsors (we all remember when Home Depot sent him to anger managment!)

Great blog. Found you on the 1,000,000 Blog listing. Keep up the great work!

Jolene… I agree with you in regards to I think he’ll be successful no matter what he does. I just think he’s not going to be a top contender like he usually is once he makes the move.

Alan P… He can’t help it that teams are starting to hit him up with offers. He has to weigh his options especially if one comes accross his desk he can’t refuse.

Stacy… I do agree with you in regards to his bitching. If he’s going to keep sponsors around he’s definitely going to have to start picking and chosing his battles. Anger Management obviously didn’t do much for him.

Ron, don’t believe for one minute that Stewart will give up a ride with a winning team to go with a losing team. Haas/CNC isn’t the only team to offer him ownership, and the release of that information is just a bargaining chip anyway. Gibbs will do what they can to keep him, and they have the advantage.

  8. Mike says:

Well, if he is going there as an owner of the team, I think he has made the right decision.
